The Ukrainian ambassador stated that the crisis in relations with Poland has already passed its peak
Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, stated that the most acute phase of the crisis in Ukrainian-Polish relations is now behind us, although tensions within Polish society persist.
According to him, the escalation was caused by historical, political, and social factors, including the large number of Ukrainians in Poland, the approaching parliamentary elections, and sensitive issues of historical memory.
At the same time, the diplomat emphasized that Polish authorities are responding promptly to incidents of aggression against Ukrainians. He noted that law enforcement agencies are investigating all known incidents, and the prosecutor’s office has established a separate unit to investigate crimes motivated by ethnic hatred.
Bodnar also stressed that claims of widespread anti-Polish or anti-Ukrainian sentiment are an exaggeration and called for more active dialogue between Ukrainian and Polish opinion leaders.

The decision to revoke Poland’s highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a unilateral act by the president. Under Polish procedure, the president may initiate the revocation of an award, but the corresponding act requires the countersignature (co-signature) of the Polish prime minister.
