Border guards advise avoiding the "Krakivets" and "Shehyni" border crossings due to long lines
The State Customs Service of Ukraine has reported a significant increase in traffic at the Ukrainian-Polish border.
The main reason for the rush is the approaching Easter holidays, which is causing a significant number of citizens to return home.
In 2026, the dates of the celebrations differ: in Poland, Easter will be celebrated on April 5, while in Ukraine, it will be on April 12. This time gap is causing a prolonged wave of returns, which began as early as late March.
The most critical traffic situation is currently observed at the “Krakivets–Korchova” and “Shehyni–Medyka” border crossings.
Here, drivers are forced to spend the most time in lines due to the high concentration of passenger cars and buses.
“In recent days, there has been an increase in the number of vehicles at the Ukrainian-Polish border. With Easter approaching, the number of citizens returning to Ukraine has risen,” the customs press service reports.
To optimize their trip and save time, experts recommend that citizens use less congested routes.
Alternative options include the checkpoints “Ugryniv–Dolgobychiv,” “Rava-Ruska–Khrébenné,” “Hrushiv–Budomierz,” “Nyzhankovychi–Malhovice,” and “Smilnytsia–Kroscienko.”
State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko noted that over 100,000 people crossed the border in the past 24 hours alone. Most travelers are heading into Ukraine, which creates peak traffic at certain times of the day.
As a reminder, a 1763 violin intended for export to the Netherlands was seized at the Ukrainian border.
Queues have also grown at the border with Poland ahead of the holidays.
