Well-known Ukrainian producer Iryna Horova found herself at the center of a high-profile scandal due to her behavior during an air raid alert. Social media users reacted strongly to a clip from the star’s interview, which sparked a wave of outrage among residents of the Kyiv region, particularly those in Brovary. 

The incident occurred during a filming session in Kyiv when an air raid siren sounded. The interviewer decided to joke about the danger and flippantly asked whether something important was flying overhead or if it was “just a drone heading for Brovary,” to which Gorova responded with loud laughter.

On Threads and Instagram, Ukrainians sharply criticized media figures for their dismissive attitude toward the safety of people who hide from enemy drones every night, and reminded them of the tragedy of every airstrike. The producer herself later responded to the accusations, explaining that her laughter was a psychological defense mechanism triggered by the phrase “something important is flying,” and that her mention of Brovary was merely a general direction to quickly orient herself regarding the immediate threat overhead.
