Checkpoints suspend operations during attacks, and people are dispersed
At the Ukrainian border, border crossing operations are temporarily suspended when there is a threat of Russian attacks. In such cases, people are dispersed throughout the border crossing points to avoid crowding and reduce risks to their safety.
Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, said that over the past few weeks, Russian attacks have hit five border crossing points in the Odesa region. Four of them are located on the border with Moldova, and one is on the border with Romania. The strikes damaged the checkpoints themselves and their service areas.
Demchenko also mentioned the situation near the “Yagodin” border crossing on the border with Poland. The checkpoint itself was not damaged, but Russian strikes damaged the highway and railway infrastructure in that area. In particular, a locomotive was hit.
Border guards decide whether to suspend operations based on the nature of the attack and the direction of enemy forces. After assessing the situation, they may halt border crossing operations on certain routes.
Resuming operations depends on the consequences of the strikes and the extent of the damage. According to a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, this can take anywhere from a few hours to several days.
Demchenko also noted that Belarus continues to assist Russia. He said that during the attacks on the Rivne and Volyn regions, repeaters located on Belarusian territory were used.

The “Starokozache–Tudora” border crossing on the border with Moldova has resumed operations following a nighttime attack by Russian drones. Currently, vehicle clearance is proceeding as usual in both directions.
