The Rules Committee approved Daria Volodina's request to resign her seat
The Rules Committee of the Verkhovna Rada approved a statement by Daria Volodina, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party, regarding the early termination of her mandate.
This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who noted that the final decision now depends on a vote in the plenary hall.
For the resolution to take effect, at least 226 members of parliament must vote in favor of it. Only after the parliamentary body successfully votes on the matter will Volodina officially lose her status and cease her work in parliament.
Daria Volodina was born in 1991 and received her education at the Faculty of Economics of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
She also studied at the Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which attests to her professional training in management and international relations.
Before embarking on her political career, she established herself in the business world by founding her own advertising agency.
In addition, Volodina worked for a long time as a manager, specializing in reputation risk management for various organizations.
In 2019, she was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation on the list of the “Servant of the People” political party, where she ranked 65th.
As an independent, the MP focused her work on the Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy.
Volodina’s political orientation shifted in 2021 when she joined the cross-factional group “Smart Politics,” led by Dmytro Razumkov. This decision demonstrated her relative distancing from the main line of the ruling faction.
Since Daria Volodina was elected to parliament via the party’s national list, the replacement procedure will occur automatically.
Her seat in the chamber will be taken by the next candidate in line registered on the “Servant of the People” list.
