Director Roman Balayan was awarded the Zelenskyy Medal

A Ukrainian film director received a state award for his significant contribution to the development of national cinema.

On April 15, Roman Balayan turned 85, and on this occasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the artist.

This was reported with reference to the presidential decree.

On April 13, a decree awarding Roman Balayan the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise appeared on the website of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The head of state recognized the director’s creative work and his contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema. “For his significant personal contribution to the development and popularization of Ukrainian cinema, and his many years of fruitful creative work, I hereby decree: To award the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 4th Class, to Roman Gurghenovich Balayan—film director, screenwriter, and producer,” the decree states.

The director confirmed that the fifth "Matrix" film is still in the works.

As a reminder, Paramountofficially acquired Warner Bros. for $110 billion.

Prior to this, the streaming platform Netflix announced that it would not attempt to outbid Paramount Skydance’s offer to acquire the Warner Bros. media holding company.

Additionally, Paramounthas upped its bid to acquire Warner Bros. to compete with Netflix.
