Trump's year of negotiations has been the deadliest for civilians in Ukraine — Matviychuk

A year of negotiations involving U.S. President Donald Trump has led to a sharp rise in civilian casualties in Ukraine.

This was stated by human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviychuk during the Kyiv Security Forum.

According to her, UN data shows that the number of Ukrainian civilians killed and wounded has risen by 35% compared to the previous year.

Matviychuk emphasized that this is a consequence of the loss of the human dimension in political processes and attempts to reach agreements with Russia without prioritizing the protection of life.

She also presented a joint statement by women Nobel Peace Prize laureates, which emphasizes that lasting peace is impossible without justice and holding those guilty of war crimes accountable.

The statement specifically highlights the role of Ukrainian women in the resistance—both in the military and in the humanitarian and political spheres.

Matviychuk called on the international community to return to a values-based policy where human life and justice are key priorities.

In the village of Ivanivka, Semenivska community, Chernihiv region, an agricultural enterprise was damaged as a result of a drone attack. Warehouses were destroyed, and a combine harvester in the field was damaged.

Russian troops launched six strikes on Novomykolaivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Seven people were injured. Buildings in the village were damaged, and a fire broke out.
