The SBU detained a taxi driver who was directing Russian strikes on Odesa
The Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine has exposed and detained yet another FSB agent in Odesa. The individual turned out to be a local taxi driver who had been recruited by Russian intelligence services. According to the investigation, he was coordinating Russian missile and drone strikes on the city while driving passengers.
This was reported by the SBU.
According to the case materials, the suspect tracked the locations of the Defense Forces and local power substations, which the Russians were targeting for a new series of airstrikes.
It was established that he operated under the cover of transporting passengers around the regional center and its outskirts.
It has been documented that while traveling to clients or returning after completing orders, the agent photographed the perimeters of potential “targets” and marked their geolocations on Google Maps.
The perpetrator used a smartphone and a tablet for taking photos and working with mapping applications. He subsequently compiled intelligence reports for the FSB on these devices.
SBU officers exposed the agent and detained him at his residence. During searches, his gadgets and SIM cards were seized; he had stored intelligence data on them and used an anonymous chat in a messaging app to communicate with his handler from the Russian special services.
According to the investigation, the suspect came to the FSB’s attention as early as late 2025, when he was searching online for “easy money” opportunities.
In exchange for the promise of “quick extra cash,” the agent began preparing coordinates for new shelling attacks on Odesa.
SBU investigators informed him of the charges under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Comprehensive operations were conducted by SBU officers in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as by the SBU Directorate in the Odesa region, under the procedural guidance of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
