The SBU detained an FSB agent in Nikopol who was directing strikes on the city
The Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine detained another FSB agent in the Dnipropetrovsk region who was directing enemy shelling on the frontline town of Nikopol.
The perpetrator was transmitting coordinates to the occupiers for strikes using Grad multiple rocket launchers, tube artillery, and FPV drones.
By exposing the enemy’s activities in a timely manner, Ukrainian intelligence officers were able to fully secure the positions of the Defense Forces in the region.
A local repeat offender, who had served time for theft back in the mid-1990s, was directing the Russian shelling.
In the summer of 2025, he came to the attention of Russian intelligence agencies due to his own posts on Telegram channels supporting the Kremlin regime.
Subsequently, an FSB officer contacted the man via messenger, offering “quick money” in exchange for cooperation.
To finance their intelligence operations, the invaders used drones, trying not to leave financial traces in banks.
The traitor received the first sum of money from the Russians in a rather unusual way. It was established that the agent received the funds via a drone, which dropped a capsule containing money near his yard.
The suspect’s main task was to track the locations of Defense Forces units in the frontline city and the coastal zone.
The enemy was most interested in the locations of fortifications and air defense firing positions of Ukrainian troops. The Russian invaders planned to use the obtained data to carry out massive attacks on the city’s infrastructure.
To avoid drawing unnecessary attention, the perpetrator acted cautiously and covertly. To gather intelligence, the agent discreetly asked acquaintances about the locations of defense facilities and then conducted further reconnaissance there.
He recorded the movements of Ukrainian military equipment and transmitted precise geographic coordinates to his FSB handler.
The Security Service of Ukraine thoroughly documented all stages of the enemy collaborator’s intelligence activities and carried out a successful special operation to apprehend him.
During an urgent search of the detainee’s residence, a mobile phone was seized that contained direct evidence of his work for the FSB.
Currently, the suspect is completely isolated and is being held in custody pursuant to a court order.
