A man who was attempting to cross the border illegally was found dead at the border with Romania

In the Chernivtsi region, near the Ukrainian-Romanian border, the body of a man was found who, according to preliminary reports, had been attempting to leave Ukraine illegally.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service.

A report of a possible emergency was received from Romanian border guards following a call from the man’s wife. The woman reported that her husband had attempted to cross the border near Krasnoilsk, but fell ill while traveling, lost his bearings in the dark, and was unable to determine his location.

After receiving the information, Ukrainian border guards began a search and later found the man showing no signs of life approximately 100 meters from the engineering barriers.

According to preliminary information, no signs of a violent death were found. It is likely that the man stopped to spend the night, hoping to wait until he felt better.

The deceased was identified as a Kyiv resident born in 1979. The final cause of death will be determined by a forensic medical examination.
