The remains of OUN leader Andriy Melnyk and his wife will be reburied in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a decision to reinter the remains of Andriy Melnyk, head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, and his wife, Sofiya Fedak-Melnyk, in Ukraine.

This is stated in Government Order No. 460 of May 15.

The remains of Andriy Melnyk, who was a colonel in the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and led the OUN from 1938 to 1964, will be reburied at the National Military Memorial Cemetery in Kyiv.

The government approved a plan of action for organizing the reburial and instructed central authorities to ensure its implementation. In particular, the Ukrainian side is to coordinate with the Luxembourg authorities to obtain permits for the exhumation and transportation of the remains to Ukraine.

Ceremonial events are also planned during the crossing of the state border and the transport of the remains through Ukrainian territory, with the participation of government officials, military personnel, and the public.

The reburial ceremony in Kyiv is planned to be held with military honors.

Angelina Palamar (pseudonym “Orysia”), who served as a liaison for the UPA, passed away at the age of 101.

In Kalush, in the Carpathian region, former UPA liaison Maria Volochanska passed away. She died at the age of 101.
