Two more cities have ended their heating season due to warmer weather

The heating season has officially ended in the cities of Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih. Currently, only boiler rooms that provide heat to social facilities—hospitals, schools, and kindergartens—remain in operation in these cities.

This was announced by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, on March 23. The shutdown of the remaining cities in the region with centralized heating will take place gradually and is expected to be completed by the end of this week thanks to favorable weather conditions.

The decision to stop heat supply is based on a standard requiring that the average daily air temperature exceed +8 degrees for three consecutive days. The official emphasized that final decisions are made by local authorities based on forecasts. Meanwhile, in Kyiv, the heating season will end on March 24, as decided by the Kyiv City State Administration, due to warmer weather and the need for rational use of energy resources.

Social service facilities in the capital, including maternity hospitals and medical institutions, will be disconnected from heating networks based on individual requests from their directors. The widespread end of the heating season in the regions is occurring against the backdrop of ongoing shelling of energy infrastructure by Russia, forcing the government to accelerate the transition to backup power sources. Earlier, Yulia Svyrydenko announced the allocation of funds for energy independence in high-rise buildings, which is critical given the shortage of power generation following Russian attacks.

As a reminder, it has been announced when heating will begin to be turned off in Ukraine.

The government will also end the heating season in Ukraine depending on weather conditions.
