Sibiga discussed with Rubio ways to end the war and the situation in the Middle East

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss ending the Russia-Ukraine war and the situation in the Middle East. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 ministerial meeting in France.

Andriy Sybiga wrote about this on X.

Sybiga emphasized that the U.S. role in advancing peace efforts remains critically important.

“Ukraine’s proposals are realistic and feasible. Pressure on Russia is a key factor in forcing Moscow to end the war,” the minister said.

The politicians also discussed the conflict in the Middle East. Sybiha noted that Moscow and Tehran are cooperating to prolong the war.

“And joint pressure must be exerted on both. Ukraine’s concrete assistance to the Gulf countries in defending against Iranian terror has demonstrated our role as a partner and participant in the security sphere,” the foreign minister explained.

Sybiga added that countering Russian aggression against Ukraine must remain a priority on the international agenda.

Following the talks in the U.S., there has been no real progress toward peace. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia is not showing any willingness to engage in diplomacy. Ukraine, together with its partners, will continue to apply pressure to force Moscow to the negotiating table.
