Sibiga supported Hungary's decision to expel Russian diplomats
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga welcomed Hungary’s decision to expel Russian diplomats, calling it “very timely and sensible.”
According to Sibiga, reducing the number of Russian diplomats in European Union countries will help counter Moscow’s activities.
The Ukrainian minister noted that the fewer Russian representatives remaining in the EU, the fewer opportunities there will be for sabotage, the spread of disinformation, and the organization of provocations.
“A very timely and sensible decision. The fewer Russian diplomats operating in the EU, the fewer acts of sabotage, disinformation, and provocations there will be,” Sibiga said.
Sibiga also listed the steps he believes are necessary to strengthen Europe’s protection against Russian influence.
“Other important steps to protect Europe from Russia’s destructive influence should include a ban on entry for Russian militants, maximum restrictions on the issuance of any visas to Russian citizens, and the closure of ‘Russian houses,’” Andriy Sibiga emphasized.
Thus, Ukraine is calling on EU countries to tighten restrictions on Russian diplomatic missions, citizens, and organizations that Moscow could use to exert influence and conduct hybrid operations in Europe.

As a reminder, Hungarian authorities decided to expel 10 employees of the Russian diplomatic mission from the country due to activities that Budapest considers unacceptable for diplomats under the Vienna Convention.
