Sibiga commented on Lavrov's call to Rubio warning of strikes on Kyiv
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga called the statements made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding plans to attack Kyiv a brazen provocation and yet another confirmation of Moscow’s interest in prolonging the war and escalating tensions.
Interfax-Ukraine reported this, citing a statement by the Ukrainian minister.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expressed outrage that Lavrov would publicly recount the course of a conversation in which he threatened to attack the Ukrainian capital. Andriy Sibiga emphasized that this is evidence of extreme audacity—directly informing the world’s most powerful country of a complete disregard for its peace efforts and the entire peace process. Ukraine hopes that after receiving such threats, international partners will send Moscow a firm and strong signal that such strikes are unacceptable, as the appropriate signals should come not from the aggressor country, but directly to it.
Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of the aggressor country, the Russian Federation, stated during a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Russia is “launching strikes on targets in Kyiv.”
