Sybiga and the OECD Secretary-General discussed the organization of reforms and the country's recovery

During a meeting in Kyiv with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), discussed Ukraine’s progress in meeting the organization’s standards, the implementation of reforms, and further steps toward membership.

According to Sibiga, the parties focused on the security situation in Ukraine, the consequences of Russian aggression, and issues related to international support for the country.

“Today in Kyiv, I was pleased to welcome OECD Secretary-General Matthias Cormann. We discussed the latest developments on the battlefield, the consequences of ongoing Russian attacks against Ukrainian citizens, energy infrastructure, and the economy, as well as broader security developments in our region,” the minister noted.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Ukraine remains committed to integration with the European Union and the OECD, even amid a full-scale war.

According to him, the state is consistently implementing reforms, strengthening institutions, and meeting the necessary standards and criteria of international organizations.

During the talks, the parties discussed:

  • Ukraine’s cooperation with the OECD within the framework of existing programs;
  • progress in meeting the organization’s standards and requirements;
  • the OECD’s contribution to Ukraine’s modernization and reform;
  • preparations for the Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery;
  • mobilizing international support for the country’s reconstruction and development.

Sibiga highly commended the analytical reviews prepared by the organization in the areas of infrastructure, public administration, and the judiciary.

According to him, such documents are important practical tools for implementing reforms and enhancing the country’s resilience.

The minister also expressed hope for Ukraine’s continued progress toward membership in the organization.

The Ukrainian side expects a positive decision from the OECD Council regarding the start of the negotiation process and the approval of a roadmap for accession to the organization.
