Court Places Dog Owner Under House Arrest Following Fatal Attack on a Retiree
The Boryspil City and District Court imposed a preventive measure on a woman whose Cane Corso dogs fatally injured her 79-year-old neighbor. The suspect, who is charged with manslaughter due to negligence, was placed under house arrest for 60 days.
The tragedy occurred on June 19. According to the investigation, the two dogs ran out of a private yard through an unlocked gate and attacked an elderly woman on a neighboring property. The victim sustained numerous severe bites to her head and body and died in the hospital.
Law enforcement officials determined that the owner was aware of the animals’ aggressive behavior but failed to ensure proper conditions for their care. After the incident, the dogs were seized and transferred to a canine training center.
The court partially granted the investigation’s motion and prohibited the suspect from leaving her place of residence between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. without permission from law enforcement.
