The vacant ambassadorial posts at a number of Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad are expected to be filled by mid-summer. This was stated by Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, who noted that personnel decisions within the diplomatic corps will be made as part of a planned restructuring.

“A number of candidates for the posts of heads of foreign missions will be submitted to the President of Ukraine in the near future so that these appointments can be made by the time of the ambassadors’ meeting, which is scheduled for mid-summer,” these appointments have taken place,” Sibiga said during question time with the government in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.

As reported, Sibiga announced the annual meeting of ambassadors this summer and reported on instructions from the president to fill vacant posts and replace ambassadors in a number of countries.

“We are preparing a meeting of ambassadors this summer; there is a directive from the president to submit candidates to fill vacant ambassadorial posts, as well as to replace ambassadors in a number of countries, in order to create new momentum and shift the paradigm regarding these countries,” he said during “Question Time” in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.

Sybiga emphasized that “the biggest challenge is always staffing,” so the search for candidates continues.
