Forecasters have issued a forecast for May: temperatures will be cooler than average
In Ukraine, May 2026 is expected to be slightly cooler than average, although precipitation will remain within normal ranges.
This is reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to forecasters, the average monthly temperature will be 12–15°C, and in mountainous areas — 9–12°C. This is approximately 1.5°C below normal.
Precipitation is forecast to range from 35–76 mm across the country, and up to 88–138 mm in the west and the Carpathians. Overall, these figures are in line with the climate norm.
At the same time, forecasters note that a typical May in Ukraine has an average temperature of 13–17°C, and in the mountains—7–12°C. Absolute highs can reach nearly 40°C, while lows sometimes drop to freezing.
According to preliminary estimates, the transition to stable summer warmth (above +15°C in average daily readings) will occur mainly in the second half of May, and in mountainous regions—toward the end of the month or even in early June.
