Pension statistics in Ukraine: some recipients receive more than 10,000 UAH
Following the indexation, pension payments in Ukraine have increased, and statistics on their distribution have been updated.
As of now, there are 10.05 million pensioners in the country. Following the annual recalculation, the average pension has risen to 7,236 UAH (approximately $166), which is 14% higher than last year.
This is reported with reference to a study by “OpenDataBot.”
At the same time, nearly one in four pensioners continues to receive about 3,500 UAH per month. However, the share of people with the lowest annual payments has decreased—from 36% to 28%.
The largest group remains that of pensioners receiving payments ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 UAH—3.66 million people, or 36% of the total. The average pension in this category is 6,686 UAH, and its share has grown from 29% to 36%.
The number of those receiving over 10,000 UAH is also increasing—currently 1.86 million people. While they accounted for 15% a year ago, they now make up 19%. In this group, the average payment reaches 16,500 UAH.
Conversely, the share of pensioners with payments ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 UAH is gradually decreasing. Currently, this group comprises 1.74 million people, or 17%, whereas last year it was about 20%. The average pension in this category is approximately 4,500 UAH.
The highest pensions are traditionally recorded in Kyiv—an average of 9,864 UAH. The lowest are in the Ternopil region, where the average payment is 5,612 UAH. Overall, pensions reach or exceed the average level in only eight regions.
The largest annual increase in the average pension was recorded in Rivne Oblast (+22%) and Zhytomyr Oblast (+20%). Additionally, nearly one in four pensioners in Ukraine continues to work—that is 2.8 million people. Their average pension is higher—about 7,900 UAH per month.
In total, as of now, there are 10.05 million pensioners in Ukraine. Between January and March 2026, their number decreased by 116,000.
