Court to determine pretrial detention for patrol officer in Kyiv shooting case
The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv is considering the issue of imposing a preventive measure on patrol officer Anna Dudina, who is implicated in the shooting case in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital.
According to the prosecution, Dudina and her partner did not use their service weapons against the attacker, prioritizing their own safety. The prosecution insists on imposing a preventive measure in the form of detention to prevent possible influence on witnesses and other individuals involved in the case.
The patrol officer herself stated that the call on April 18 was initially classified as disorderly conduct. According to her, upon arriving at the scene, they found the deceased and an injured child with a severe head injury.
Dudina explained that she did not see the shooter and could not use her weapon due to the risk to others, as the events took place in the courtyard of an apartment complex. She also noted that she tried to call an ambulance and planned to retrieve a first-aid kit from the car, but heard more gunshots and was forced to seek cover.
According to her, she was constantly thinking about saving the injured child, but acted with due consideration for the situation and the threats. The court is expected to determine a preventive measure in the near future.
A court in Kyiv remanded a patrol officer in custody who is suspected of professional negligence during the shooting in the Holosiivskyi district. The officer in question, along with his partner, was the first to arrive at the scene. Investigators believe the crew did not act appropriately at a critical moment.
Earlier, a video appeared online showing police officers fleeing from a shooter during the terrorist attack in Kyiv on April 18, leaving civilians behind, including a child.
