The court imposed a new pretrial restriction on the village head of Plyushchivka for the murder of a colleague
On March 26, 2026, the Mykolaiv Court of Appeals granted the prosecution’s appeal and changed the pretrial detention measure for Viktor Prokopchuk, the village head of Plyushchivka in the Bashtanka community, who is suspected of murdering his colleague.
This was reported by Valeria Vlasova, a spokesperson for the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The court’s decision overturned the ruling of the lower court and ordered the suspect to remain in custody until May 15, 2026, without the right to post bail.
As a reminder, on March 17, 2026, Prokopchuk shot his assistant, 51-year-old Svitlana Vanzhula, three times during an argument in the village council office. The woman died at the scene.
Previously, the court had imposed a preventive measure on the suspect with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 299,520 UAH, which was paid, and he was released. The prosecutor’s office appealed this decision, which led to a change in the preventive measure.
