A court upheld the confiscation of a car from the family of a former law enforcement officer from the Dnipropetrovsk region
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the decision to declare the assets of a former National Police officer’s family in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to be of unjustified origin. The court ruled to recover the full value of a “Toyota Land Cruiser 200” SUV—amounting to over 2.2 million hryvnias—into the state budget.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
The appellate court’s ruling took effect immediately upon its announcement on May 18, 2026.
A joint investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) and the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NAZK) revealed that the vehicle was purchased by a relative on behalf of the law enforcement officer back in 2021. Investigators fully established the fact of manipulation of property rights to conceal actual assets, as the luxury vehicle was in fact used by the police officer himself and his relatives, rather than the nominal owner.
Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court ruled that the assets of People’s Deputy Serhiy Litvinenko were unjustified and ordered the value of three luxury vehicles to be forfeited to the state. These include a 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser 200, a BMW 730LD, and a BMW X5, with a total value exceeding 7.2 million UAH.
