Tennis player Oliynikova called for the TCC to be allowed to use weapons

Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynikova responded to the incident in Lviv involving employees of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRSSC) and civilians. The athlete strongly condemned the aggression against military personnel and stated that, following such incidents, TCS staff should be permitted to use firearms.

In a statement she posted on social media on July 9, she emphasized that in the event of any potential misconduct by TCS&SP staff, their actions should be evaluated by law enforcement agencies and the state, not by citizens through vigilante justice.

The athlete also criticized people who, in her words, display aggression toward military personnel, stating that such actions are unacceptable in wartime.

“They don’t realize that aggression toward military personnel is absolutely unacceptable. It would be better if they channeled that energy into fighting the enemy. But it seems that such people are completely incapable of thinking beyond their own four walls. I wish that, following such incidents, TCC employees had the right to use firearms,” Oliynikova wrote.

Oliynikova posted the corresponding message on Instagram.

As a reminder, the first suspects in the attack on military personnel at the Territorial Recruitment Center were detained in Lviv.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the attack on military personnel at the Territorial Recruitment Center in Lviv. The head of state stated that such treatment of people in military uniform is unacceptable, and that all circumstances of the incident must be thoroughly investigated.

In Lviv, two participants in the altercation who damaged a TCC service vehicle publicly apologized to the military personnel after speaking with veterans.
