Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the Belarusian democratic forces, will visit Ukraine in the near future.
This was announced by Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.
Commenting on Alexander Lukashenko’s statement regarding a possible meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the foreign minister called it “very strange” and made it clear that Kyiv is not interested in such contact.
“We are expecting Tikhanovskaya in Ukraine in the near future, so we will have someone to talk to about all issues concerning Belarus,” Sibiga said.
According to reports, Tikhanovskaya’s visit could take place as early as next week.
Sibiga also emphasized that Ukraine continues to consider Lukashenko an accomplice in the aggression against Ukraine and advocates for holding him accountable.
“We must help Belarus become a European partner, because Belarus is also part of Europe,” the minister added.
As a reminder, two cases have been opened against Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko at the International Criminal Court, and the investigation is ongoing.
Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya announced her intention to move from Lithuania to Poland in January. This decision was made during a meeting with a temporary group of the Lithuanian parliament that supports democratic forces in Belarus.
