In Cherkasy, a man was convicted of sexually abusing his own daughter

A court found a 37-year-old man from Cherkasy guilty of raping his young daughter, sexual assault, and crimes related to child pornography. Following the trial, the man was sentenced to the maximum penalty—15 years in prison.

Prosecutors proved in court that the defendant had sexually abused his own daughter over a long period of time, taking advantage of his wife’s absence from home.

The first established incident of the crime occurred in 2021, when the girl was only 10 years old.

During the trial, it was also established that the man recorded his criminal acts on video and stored the corresponding files on his mobile phone. In addition, he accessed child pornography online and stored it on his own device.

On June 9, the court found the defendant guilty under Part 4 of Article 152, Part 3 of Article 153, Part 2 of Article 155, as well as Parts 1, 3, and 4 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“This is a particularly grave crime against a child, committed by a person who was supposed to protect her. The prosecution proved guilt in full, and the court imposed the maximum penalty within the limits of the sanctions provided by the relevant articles,” noted Volodymyr Ponomarenko, head of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, who represented the state prosecution in court.

During the trial, the defendant fully admitted his guilt.

It is also reported that information about the convicted person has been entered into the Unified Register of Persons Convicted of Crimes Against the Sexual Freedom and Sexual Integrity of Minors.

The sentence is one of the harshest punishments provided for by Ukrainian law for sexual crimes against children.

An indictment has been filed against a 57-year-old resident of the Zhmerynka District in Vinnytsia Oblast, accused of crimes against the sexual freedom and integrity of minors. The children have been provided with qualified legal, medical, and psychological assistance.

In the Khmelnytskyi region, a man who raped his stepdaughter was sentencedto life in prison.
