The bureau stated that a video began circulating online purporting to show NABU detectives conducting searches at the former head of the Defense Procurement Agency’s residence. The video deliberately shows boxes of cash and a provocative message.
NABU emphasized that the published video has no connection to actual investigative activities. “This video is a fake created using AI,” the bureau stated.
The anti-corruption agency linked the appearance of the fake video to the information war against Ukraine. According to NABU, modern artificial intelligence tools are increasingly being used to create content that appears to be authentic video footage.
The bureau believes that the purpose of spreading such content is to discredit independent anti-corruption agencies, undermine trust in state institutions, and damage Ukraine’s image.
NABU urged Ukrainians to be cautious about information circulating on social media, not to share unverified “sensational” stories, and to rely on reports from official sources.
A post circulated online in which the authors claimed that on September 23, NABU allegedly conducted searches at the residence of Arsen Zhumadilov, the former head of the Defense Procurement Agency.
The post claimed that over $140 million in cash had been seized, which was allegedly stored in refrigerator boxes. According to the authors of the post, one of the boxes bore the inscription “For the Servant of the People.”
