In Kherson, a lawmaker concealed assets worth ₴13 million

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office has notified a member of one of the city's district councils that he is under investigation for inaccurately declaring assets worth over 13 million hryvnias.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

According to sources in law enforcement agencies, the case involves Oleksandr Shcherbina, a member of the Kherson District Council.

The investigation established that the proceedings were initiated based on materials from the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.

“The suspect failed to list 82 real estate properties in his declarations for 2023–2024, which he owns (24) or uses (58). These include land plots, apartments, and residential buildings in Kherson, as well as a parking space,” the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine noted.

The deputy’s actions have been classified under Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—declaration of false information.

The penalties under this article include:

  • a fine ranging from 68,000 to 85,000 UAH;
  • or community service for up to 240 hours;
  • or restriction or deprivation of liberty for up to two years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions.

As a reminder, the former head of the State Migration Service Office in Khmelnytskyi Oblast failed to declare assets worth over 30 million hryvnias. Among the assets were a luxury store and several expensive cars. After being exposed, the official resigned, and the prosecutor’s office notified him of the charges.
