A man in Kyiv has been charged with the rape of an 8-year-old boy
Law enforcement officials have notified a 26-year-old man that he is a suspect; he is accused of raping and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy. The incident occurred in the Desnyansky District of the capital.
According to the investigation, the man and his brother were renting an apartment in Kyiv. In late January and early February 2026, they were visited by a woman who occasionally came over with her 8-year-old son. The boy would stay overnight in the apartment.
Later, the boy told his mother that the man had committed acts of a sexual nature against him. Due to his age, the child did not understand the significance of the adult’s actions and could only describe what the man—an acquaintance of his mother—had done. At the same time, the boy trusted the man and did not perceive him as a threat.
Based on the results of the investigation, under the procedural supervision of the head of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the 26-year-old man was notified that he is suspected of raping the boy, as well as of repeatedly sexually assaulting him.
The man’s actions have been classified as the rape of a person under the age of 14 and repeated sexual abuse.
The suspect has already been placed in pretrial detention for a period of 60 days, with no bail set. The pretrial investigation is ongoing.
