Kyiv bids farewell to UDO Colonel Valentina Savitskaya

A farewell ceremony was held in Kyiv for Colonel Valentina Savitskaya of the State Security Service of Ukraine, who was killed on July 24 as a result of a Russian missile strike on the Kyiv region.

Valentyna Savitska was killed during the enemy attack while performing her official duties. The State Security Service noted that she was an experienced officer and deeply dedicated to her work.

During the farewell ceremony, family members, colleagues, and comrades honored the memory of the deceased.

As a reminder, on the afternoon of July 24, Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on a private training ground in the Kyiv region, where an event involving representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry was taking place. At least 10 people were killed in the attack, and about 100 more were injured. Law enforcement authorities have opened two criminal investigations—one regarding a war crime committed by the Russian Federation and the other regarding possible official negligence in organizing the event.

Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv during the day on July 24, although such attacks usually occur at night. An expert believes this may have been an attempt to wear down Ukraine’s air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.

As a result of the Russian missile strike on a defense products exhibition in the Kyiv region on July 24, Kateryna Shalupnya, head of the legal department of the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Association of District and Regional Councils (UAROR), was killed.
