A man accused of raping an 11-year-old girl is set to stand trial in Kyiv
A 22-year-old man from Sumy will stand trial in Kyiv for the rape of an 11-year-old schoolgirl.
This was reported by the Kyiv Police and the Office of the Prosecutor General, noting that the pre-trial investigation into the case has been completed and the indictment has been sent to court. The investigation established that the perpetrator met the child online, posing as a 15-year-old teenager, and over the course of two weeks gained her trust by finding common topics for conversation.
The crime took place in an abandoned building, where the man invited the girl to meet him. After the incident, he attempted to conceal evidence by deleting their correspondence and his contact information from the child’s phone. The victim told her mother about what had happened, after which law enforcement officers arrested the perpetrator in November 2025.
The defendant is currently in custody without the right to bail. He is charged with violating Part 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (rape of a person under the age of fourteen). The man faces up to 15 years in prison for his actions. Law enforcement officials are once again urging parents to monitor their children’s activity on social media for their safety.
A 46-year-old resident of Vinnytsia Oblast will spend the rest of his life in prison for the systematic rape of a 9-year-old boy. The man took advantage of the child’s vulnerability while his father was away working and kept the boy in a state of constant psychological fear.
The Dzerzhinsky District Court of Kharkiv extended the pretrial detention of a physical education teacher suspected of sexual abuse of minors and rape.
As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada proposed introducing chemical castration for pedophiles, but the corresponding bill was vetoed by the president. The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed creating a public registry of pedophiles.
