A former member of the DFTG is to stand trial in Kyiv for promising rear-area service in exchange for a bribe
Prosecutors from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense Affairs in the Central Region have filed an indictment against a former member of a local community volunteer unit. According to the investigation, the man is accused of receiving improper benefits in exchange for influencing the decisions of public officials. The investigation established that, in exchange for $13,000, he promised to help secure a posting in a rear military unit.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, after learning that a conscript was wanted for failing to report to the Territorial Recruitment Center and the Military Registration and Enlistment Office, the man offered, for $13,000, to help arrange a recommendation letter for conscription into a rear military unit, followed by formal service.
He claimed that he had the necessary connections and could influence the preparation of a document that would allow the conscript to avoid additional checks and ensure his mobilization to a specific unit.
In February 2026, the defendant received part of the funds as a deposit and arranged for the preparation of the recommendation letter through intermediaries who were unaware of his unlawful intentions. He then sent the “client” a photo of the document and demanded the remaining amount.
He was detained while receiving the second portion of the money.
