A scheme involving the illegal appropriation of 6.7 hectares of recreational land has been uncovered in the Kyiv region

An official of the All-Ukrainian Creative Union and a state registrar have been notified of suspicion of illegal appropriation of a recreational land plot in the Bucha district. An expert examination confirmed that the local community suffered losses totaling over 20.7 million hryvnias due to the unlawful re-registration of ownership rights to the territory, which had previously been transferred for use to the village council.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

Due to the unlawful actions of the accomplices, local authorities lost their legal right to manage these recreational lands. To successfully carry out the criminal scheme, the state registrar used her official access to the State Register of Real Rights to Real Estate. Without any legal grounds, she entered false information into the automated system and registered the rights to the plot where the union’s property was located in the name of a private company.

Based on evidence gathered by law enforcement, the creative union official and the state registrar are charged with offenses punishable by severe penalties. The suspects face up to twelve years in prison, with a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years and mandatory confiscation of property.

A case involving a group of fraudsters who stole a woman’s documents and sold her house and land in Pushcha-Vodytsia, valued at 7.3 million hryvnias, has been referred to court.

Earlier in the Lviv region, the SBU blocked a scheme to sell body armor received as humanitarian aid.
