An overpayment of 9.6 million hryvnias for tram tracks was discovered in Kyiv
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office has notified officials of the Kyivpastrans municipal enterprise and the head of a private company that they are under investigation for purchasing tram tracks at inflated prices. According to the investigation, the scheme could have caused millions of hryvnias in losses to the capital’s budget.
It has been established that from April 2024 to March 2025, Kyivpastrans, represented by its separate division “Track Service,” carried out a series of purchases of tram tracks from a predetermined supplier at inflated prices. To this end, the tender documentation was tailored to the products of a specific manufacturer, thereby limiting the number of potential bidders.
Expert analyses have established that these transactions caused financial damage to the Kyiv city budget totaling 9.6 million hryvnias.
Suspicions have been raised against an official at the municipal enterprise “Kyivpastrans” who concluded the agreements, an official responsible for price monitoring, and the director of the supplier company.
