At the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv, a casket containing the remains of Andriy Melnyk, a colonel in the Ukrainian People’s Republic Army and leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, and his wife, Sofia Fedak-Melnyk, has been placed on public display for a final tribute.
The cathedral’s press service announced this on Facebook.
As noted, on May 22 and 23, anyone may come to the cathedral to join in prayer and pay their respects to the couple. The remains arrived in the capital overnight, where they were met by His Excellency Bishop Yosyp Milyan along with the cathedral’s clergy.
Non-stop prayers for the repose of Andriy Melnyk and his wife have been taking place in the cathedral since early morning, and the clergy, together with the faithful, are conducting joint memorial services.
As a reminder, a farewell ceremony for Ukrainian MP Stepan Kubiv was held in Lviv on May 19.
