A man who threw a dog on the floor was convicted in Kyiv

In Kyiv, a 34-year-old man was sentenced to six years in prison for cruelty to a dog and theft from a car.

The verdict was handed down following a public prosecution by prosecutors from the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv.

The Kyiv resident, who lived with his mother and brother, entered the room where his mother’s Maltese, nicknamed Kuzya, was staying.

The dog began to bark, which annoyed the man. He grabbed the animal and forcefully threw it into the hallway.

During the fall, the dog hit the floor and sustained injuries that resulted in its death.

The court found the man guilty of actively committing animal cruelty.

In addition to the case involving the dog’s death, the same man was charged with theft from a vehicle. He took property from a car that the owner had left unlocked.

For the aggregate of criminal offenses, the court sentenced the man to six years in prison.

The convicted man is currently in custody.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, “Nova Poshta” reversed its decision to fire employees involved in the incident with a stray dog in Sloviansk. The company stated that the employees would remain on the job, and the incident itself served as a reason to review the rules for handling animals at its branches.

On August 7, “Nova Poshta” reported that it had found a dog that employees at one of its branches had driven out onto the street during a heat wave. The company responded to the situation after the story gained public attention.
