A scheme involving fake illnesses to evade mobilization was uncovered in Kryvyi Rih
In Kryvyi Rih, law enforcement officials uncovered a scheme in which individuals subject to military service were provided with grounds to obtain deferrals from mobilization and travel abroad.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, the organizer was a former medical official who coordinated the scheme’s participants, sought out “clients,” and oversaw the transfer of funds.
Also involved in the scheme were the head of the neurology department, who served as acting chair of the Medical Examination Commission, and a neurosurgeon.
The scheme involved the creation of fictitious medical documents regarding allegedly serious illnesses. To do this, “patients” were hospitalized, after which forged medical reports, including test results, were produced.
In one documented case, a man was promised disability status in exchange for $9,000. At a private medical center, he underwent a procedure without medical justification—incisions were made on his back to create the appearance of a performed surgery.
Afterward, the scheme’s participants ensured the necessary certificates were issued and instructed the “clients” on how to behave during medical examinations.
Currently, the involvement of at least 28 individuals who may have used the services of this scheme is being investigated.
During searches, law enforcement officers seized over $39,000, mobile phones, and documentation.
Three suspects have already been notified of charges for organizing the illegal smuggling of people across the border and other offenses.
As a reminder, two suspects were detained in Kyiv in connection with the arson of three Tesla vehicles.
Additionally, a criminal leader was detained in the Ternopil region for fraud involving data from the Tax Code.
