Lviv Debunks Fake News About a Man's Death Near the TCC
On August 22 in Lviv, a 53-year-old man fell ill during mobilization activities near the Sykhiv District Military Registration and Enlistment Office, after which reports of his alleged death were shared on social media. In reality, the man was hospitalized due to a sudden deterioration in his condition and high blood pressure.
Information about the man’s death was also shared by Ihor Zinkevych, a Lviv City Council member from the “Varta” party and director of the “Olesko Castle” museum.
“Reports indicate that a man has died near the TCC in Sykhiv, Lviv. According to preliminary information, the man fell ill during the mobilization exercises. Medical personnel attempted to resuscitate him, but were unable to save him. His wife also became ill at the scene and was given medical assistance,” wrote Ihor Zinkevych.
The Lviv Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office categorically denied this information. Officials there stated that on August 22, the man was brought to the Sykhiv District Military Registration and Enlistment Office. The office noted that he is a former law enforcement officer.
After leaving the service, men of the relevant age who hold special ranks and are subject to military service obligations under the law remain registered with the military. In the absence of legal grounds for deferment, they may be called up for military service during mobilization on general grounds.
The Territorial Center reported that the man was sent to undergo a military medical examination. After leaving the territorial center’s jurisdiction, according to the agency, he attempted to leave the escort’s custody, after which his condition deteriorated sharply.
“An emergency medical team was called to the scene. The man was transported to one of the medical facilities in Lviv,” according to a statement from the Lviv Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
They emphasized that, as of the time of publication, the man’s life and health are not in danger. He remains under medical supervision, and further actions regarding him will be determined based on the results of his medical examination and in accordance with current legislation.
