The Ministry of Defense has announced who is eligible for a deferment from mobilization in 2026
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has published a list of categories of persons subject to military service who are eligible for a deferment from mobilization in 2026, and has also explained the procedure for obtaining it.
According to the Ministry of Defense, citing an explanation on the official website of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a deferment is a temporary exemption from conscription during mobilization and is granted only in cases provided for by law.
The following individuals are eligible for a deferment:
- individuals with valid family-related grounds (including parents of large families, single parents, guardians, and individuals caring for relatives with disabilities);
- people with disabilities and citizens whom the Medical Examination Commission has deemed temporarily unfit for military service;
- certain categories of students, doctoral candidates, medical interns, and educators;
- members of parliament, judges, certain civil servants, diplomats, and other officials specified by law;
- employees of critically important enterprises, institutions, and organizations that have been designated as essential.
To apply for a deferment, you must submit an application and documents confirming your eligibility. This can be done through the “Reserve+” app or at a Center for Administrative Services (CAS). If the basis for deferment is health-related, you must undergo a medical examination by the Military Medical Commission.
The Ministry of Defense also emphasized that eligibility for a deferment does not mean it will be granted automatically—to receive it, a person subject to military service must submit the appropriate application and supporting documents.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with the “State Logistics Operator,” is preparing updates to the technical specifications for individual food rations. The changes are based on the results of a survey conducted via the “Army+” app, in which over 60,000 military personnel participated.
For the first time, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has included halal and kosher dry rations in daily field rations. This decision was made with the religious beliefs of service members in mind and to raise nutritional standards in the Armed Forces.
