NATO does not expect any changes in its cooperation with Ukraine following Drapato's appointment
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization does not expect any changes in military cooperation with Ukraine following the appointment of Mykhailo Drapaty as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to a NATO spokesperson, the Alliance’s strategy for supporting Kyiv remains clear and unwavering.
Giovanni Galoforo, advisor to the chairman of the NATO Military Committee on public relations and strategic communications, made this statement in a comment to “Suspilne,” as reported by “Ukrainska Pravda” with reference to “European Pravda.”
“Of course, no changes in military cooperation are expected, as personnel rotations occur constantly, and the Alliance’s support strategy is clear and unwavering,” Galoforo noted.
He added that he has not yet met with Drapaty in person but is looking forward to such a meeting. On the evening of July 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the dismissal of Oleksandr Syrskyi from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and announced Drapaty’s appointment. The following day, decrees regarding the change in the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were published on the president’s website.
