A teenager was killed in a traffic accident involving minors in Pereyaslav
A fatal traffic accident involving two teenage drivers occurred in the city of Pereyaslav, Kyiv Oblast, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old boy.
This was officially reported by the prosecutor’s office.
The tragic incident occurred in the afternoon when two passenger cars driven by teenagers collided at one of the city’s intersections.
Emergency responders, paramedics, and investigators arrived at the scene immediately to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.
According to preliminary data from law enforcement agencies, the accident occurred on May 29 at approximately 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street and Borysivske Pole Street.
Traffic flow in this area and the actions of those involved in the accident are currently being thoroughly examined by forensic experts. Experts are determining the speed of the vehicles and the exact sequence of events that led to the powerful collision.
“According to preliminary data, a 15-year-old BMW driver collided with a Skoda driven by a 17-year-old high school graduate,” the agency noted.
The impact of the collision was so severe that one of the young drivers sustained critical injuries.
Emergency medical personnel performed a series of resuscitation procedures directly in the ambulance while transporting the victim.
Despite the best efforts of the medical staff at the city hospital, they were unable to save the young man’s life.
“After the accident, the Skoda driver was hospitalized with severe injuries, but he died in the intensive care unit,” law enforcement officials stated.
Investigators paid particular attention to the fact that the individuals behind the wheel were too young to legally operate a vehicle.
One of the teenagers is considered a minor under traffic laws and had not undergone the required training. Police noted that the 15-year-old did not have a driver’s license.
The investigative department has launched a pre-trial investigation into this incident: “Investigators have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code—violation of traffic safety rules resulting in death.”
