Undeclared medications worth 2.2 million hryvnias were discovered at the Shehyni border crossing

At the “Shehyni” border crossing, border guards from the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment, in cooperation with customs officials, discovered a large shipment of undeclared medical supplies worth over two million hryvnias.

The special operation was carried out based on advance intelligence received from field agents

The contraband was hidden among the passengers’ personal belongings inside the vehicle.

The contraband was found during a thorough inspection of a Mercedes driven by a 24-year-old resident of Zhytomyr Oblast.

Law enforcement officers thoroughly searched the trunk and discovered medications that were not listed at all in the official customs declaration.

“Among the seized items were 22 vials of injectable solution and 89 pre-filled syringes containing active pharmaceutical ingredients,” agency representatives reported.

The offender himself attempted to justify his actions by claiming ignorance and stating that he was simply providing routine logistics services to third parties. According to the driver, he was transporting the medical supplies from Poland to Lviv as a package.

“He planned to subsequently send the goods by mail to Dnipro,” the carrier added during his initial statement to law enforcement officials.

This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine—Western Border.
