The Rada is not discussing a change in the Minister of Internal Affairs - Arakhamia

The Verkhovna Rada is not considering the dismissal of Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. Nor is there any discussion of appointing a new head of the ministry, Davyd Arakhamia stated.

This was reported by Davyd Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, on Telegram.

“We see how certain members of parliament are trying to politicize the terrorist attack in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv,” he noted.

The leader of the majority faction stated that such attempts are completely groundless, since the leadership of the patrol police has resigned, those responsible have been brought to trial, “no one is covering for anyone, and things are being called by their proper names.”

In his view, the Ministry of Internal Affairs responded promptly to the situation, drew conclusions, and initiated the necessary internal procedures.

“As of now, the issue of replacing the Minister of Internal Affairs is not being considered by the Verkhovna Rada,” he said.

According to Ukrinform’s sources among lawmakers, Klymenko is performing his duties conscientiously, “so there are currently no grounds for personnel decisions.”

At the same time, parliament emphasizes that security issues remain a priority, and the relevant authorities must respond promptly to challenges.

“It is important now not to politicize the situation, but to ensure the stable functioning of the law enforcement system,” the lawmaker added.

As reported, a number of MPs have expressed their intention to register a draft resolution in parliament regarding the dismissal of Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko following the events that took place over the weekend in Kyiv.

It should be noted that the Servant of the People party opposes the dismissal of the Interior Minister over the terrorist attack in Kyiv.

Despite Arakhamia’s statements, a draft resolution regarding the Minister of Internal Affairs has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada. Draft Resolution No. 15185 dated April 21, 2026, was submitted by MPs Yulia Yatsyk (independent), Serhiy Rudyk (the “For the Future” parliamentary group), and Mykola Halushko (the Servant of the People faction).

A draft resolution on summoning the head of the Patrol Police Department, Yevhen Zhukov, to a plenary session and dismissing him has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.

Patrol Police Chief Zhukov submitted his resignation following the terrorist attack in Kyiv.
