The Rada is proposing new rules and fines for electric scooter owners
Two bills have been introduced in the Verkhovna Rada aimed at regulating the use of electric scooters and other small electric vehicles in Ukraine. The bills establish new operating rules and administrative penalties for violations.
Bill No. 15284 proposes to define the legal status of small electric vehicles and regulate the specifics of their use on roads and streets.
Meanwhile, Bill No. 15283 proposes amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses and establishes liability for violations of the rules governing the use of electric scooters and other similar vehicles.
The documents were initiated by People’s Deputies Anna Skorokhod, Lyudmyla Marchenko, Heorhiy Mazurashu, and Mykola Tyshchenko.
Both documents are currently under review. Once the texts and explanatory notes are published, it will become clear exactly which rules are proposed for users of electric scooters, monowheels, hoverboards, and other types of small electric vehicles, as well as what fines may be imposed for violating the new requirements.
As a reminder, electric scooters have once again become a topic of discussion following a traffic accident in Vorzel.
