A suspect in the drug trafficking scheme was detained in connection with the discovery of drugs in the car of former battalion commander Magura
Law enforcement officials have detained another suspect in the case involving the planting of drugs in the car of the former commander of a battalion of the 47th "Magura" Brigade. According to investigators, the man helped unlock a car parked in Kharkiv, after which drugs and psychotropic substances were placed inside the vehicle. This is now the fourth suspect in the case.
A new suspect has emerged in the case involving an attempt to orchestrate criminal prosecution against the former battalion commander of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura.” Law enforcement officers detained a man who, according to the investigation, helped gain access to the soldier’s car. It was into this very car that the drugs were later planted.
How the Car Was Opened
According to the investigation, the events took place on August 28, 2026, in Kharkiv. The man allegedly acted on the instructions of other participants in the scheme. Using mechanical tools, he broke into the former commander’s car, which was parked in the city. Afterward, law enforcement officials claim, his accomplices placed pre-purchased narcotics and psychotropic substances inside the vehicle.

Thus, investigators believe that the new suspect was not merely present during the events but helped the other participants gain access to the vehicle. The man has already been notified of his status as a suspect in aiding and abetting the unlawful entry into another person’s property. These actions were committed as part of a premeditated conspiracy by a group of people. He is charged under Part 5 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, and Part 1 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
This is already the fourth suspect
The detainee is the fourth person implicated in this case. Previously, three former law enforcement officers were charged. According to the investigation, they are currently serving as military personnel in one of the Defense Forces’ brigades.
Law enforcement officials believe that these individuals, along with other as-yet-unidentified persons, organized surveillance of the former commander. According to investigators, they gathered information about the soldier’s movements, followed him, and devised a scheme to plant illegal substances.
The drugs were planted to fabricate a case
Investigators believe the scheme’s goal was to fabricate evidence against the former commander and secure his criminal prosecution. Earlier, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported that on the night of August 27–28, three former law enforcement officers illegally broke into the soldier’s car in Kharkiv. According to the investigation, they left about 30 bags containing cannabis and PVP inside.
Afterward, on August 28, the suspects allegedly tipped off patrol officers that the former commander was transporting drugs. The car was stopped on Kooperativna Street. During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered the illegal substances.
The soldier himself immediately claimed that the drugs had been planted on him. He also reported that he had been under surveillance for some time. As a result, the investigation began to examine not only the discovery of the drugs but also how they ended up in the car. According to prosecutors, this is precisely what made it possible to establish the possible chain of actions by those involved in the scheme.
Investigators are searching for other suspects
The arrest of the fourth suspect does not mean the investigation is over. Law enforcement officials continue to identify individuals who may have been involved in organizing and carrying out this scheme. In particular, the investigation must determine the role of each participant—from those who may have organized the surveillance of the soldier to the people who helped gain access to his car and planted the illegal substances.
At this time, all the circumstances of the case are still being established. At the same time, it is important to note that this is specifically the investigation’s version of events. The suspects’ guilt must be established by a court, not by the notice of suspicion itself. The pretrial investigation is ongoing. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The court ordered that military servicemember T. V. Aliyev be held in custody until November 8, with the option to post bail in the amount of 14.976 million hryvnias. He is one of three suspects in the case involving the organization of a provocation and the planting of narcotics in the car of Oleksandr Shyrshyn, the former commander of the Magura battalion of the 47th Brigade.
The State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) announced that it had uncovered three former police officers suspected of planting drugs on Oleksandr Shyrshyn, the former commander of the “Magura” 47th Mechanized Brigade battalion. According to investigators, the men followed the soldier, broke into his car, and left drugs and psychotropic substances there, after which they reported the incident to law enforcement. The detainees have been notified of the charges against them, and investigators will also examine the actions of the police officers and military personnel from the Special Police Forces who were involved in the incident.
The court ruled that Syrsky’s decision regarding Shyrshyn was unlawful.
