The U.S. believes Ukraine will be able to manufacture Patriot systems faster than the Americans – Bloomberg
The Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Republican Congressman Michael McCaul stated that transferring licenses and technologies to Ukraine for the production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems directly benefits American defense companies such as Lockheed Martin.
During his visit to Ukraine, the lawmaker emphasized that Ukrainian specialists are capable of setting up missile production much faster and potentially more effectively than in the U.S. In his view, American manufacturers could even learn from Ukraine’s experience in the rapid production and modernization of defense weapons.
The initiative to grant Ukraine a license for domestic production of Patriot systems is being considered in the context of support from President Donald Trump. During his meetings in Kyiv, McColl also familiarized himself with Ukrainian developments in the field of drones and the situation on the front lines.
The congressman spoke about this on the Bloomberg This Weekend program.
The United States has agreed to grant Ukraine a license to manufacture missiles for the Patriot air defense systems. The Kremlin stated that such a decision would allegedly complicate the negotiation process, but at the same time assured that it does not consider it an escalation.
Ukraine aims to launch production of missiles for the Patriot systems under a U.S. license as soon as possible. However, according to Reuters, this process may begin not in Ukraine, but in one of the European countries.
