In Ternopil, a pensioner broke her leg when a bus braked suddenly

In Ternopil, a 74-year-old female passenger broke her leg inside a public bus after the driver made an emergency stop. The Ternopil Regional Police have already launched an investigation and are looking into all the circumstances and causes of this incident.

The traffic accident occurred on Tuesday evening, June 2, 2026. A MAN A21 route bus was traveling along one of the city’s main thoroughfares—Ruska Street—toward Mazepa Street. While driving, the driver slammed on the brakes, causing the elderly woman to lose her balance and fall to the floor of the bus

The injured pensioner was hospitalized in the trauma unit of a local hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with a broken leg. The victim herself confirmed to the doctors that she was injured precisely at the moment the vehicle came to a sudden stop. An investigative team was dispatched to the scene to document the accident and determined that the bus driver was sober.

Law enforcement officials are awaiting the official medical report on the severity of the woman’s injuries. If the injury is classified as moderate, the information will be entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules resulting in moderate bodily injury to the victim). If the driver is found guilty in court, he could face a fine of up to 85,000 hryvnias, community service for up to two years, or restricted freedom for up to three years. Investigators are currently determining what exactly caused the driver to perform the dangerous maneuver.

This was reported by the Ternopil Regional Police.

Klitschko called the 30-hryvnia fare for travel in Kyiv too low.

Viktor Mykhailovych Vyhivskyi, head of the Kyiv Metro municipal enterprise, explained what the actual cost of transportation consists of and why the current fare is significantly lower than the cost price, which is determined by expenses for electricity, salaries, and staff shortages.

The Kyiv City Council was unable to pass a resolution that would allow negotiations to begin with international partners regarding a loan for the construction of the metro line to Troieschyna.
