A temporary decline in air quality was recorded in Vyshneve and Brovary in the Kyiv region.
According to the monitoring system, concentrations of fine particulate matter have increased in both cities.
“As of the morning of August 20, a temporary deterioration in air quality has been observed in the cities of Vyshneve and Brovary. According to the monitoring system, elevated concentrations of fine particulate matter have been recorded in these areas,” the Regional State Administration reported.
Experts note that this situation may cause breathing difficulties, particularly among children, the elderly, and those sensitive to irritants.
Until the situation returns to normal, residents are advised to:
- keep windows closed;
- limit prolonged time outdoors;
- drink plenty of water;
- if you have an air purifier, use it on the highest setting.
At the same time, in other towns and villages in the region where monitoring is conducted, no exceedances of permissible levels of chemical and biological substances have been recorded.
“In other settlements where ambient air quality is being monitored, no exceedances of permissible levels of chemical and biological substances in the ambient air have been recorded,” the statement reads.
Additionally, gamma radiation levels in the Kyiv region correspond to natural background levels.
Air quality monitoring is conducted at 16 stations. The system operates around the clock provided there is a stable power supply.
This was reported by the Kyiv Regional State Administration.
On August 18, in Kropyvnytskyi, following a fire, laboratory tests revealed a deterioration in air quality and concentrations of several harmful substances exceeding permissible levels. This was reported by Andriy Raikovych, head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration.
