According to Zelenskyy, during the meeting, the parties discussed, in particular, possible steps toward achieving peace. He emphasized that what matters most now is political will on Russia’s part. “We discussed peace efforts for Ukraine. It is important that Russia find the strength to end this war,” the president said.
Ukraine, he said, already has experience with such negotiations in various countries. In particular, such meetings have previously taken place in Turkey and Switzerland.
Now Kyiv is ready to expand this format and is considering Azerbaijan as another possible venue for dialogue. This refers to trilateral negotiations involving mediators. “I told the President of Azerbaijan that we are ready for trilateral negotiations. We are ready for such negotiations in Azerbaijan if Russia is ready for diplomacy,” Zelenskyy added.
The President also emphasized that Ukraine highly values the role of partners who assist in the negotiations and can act as mediators. It is precisely such countries that can help get the process moving.
At the same time, the key condition remains unchanged—Russia’s readiness for genuine dialogue. Without this, as emphasized in Kyiv, no negotiating platform will make sense.
During his visit to Azerbaijan, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev. The parties discussed cooperation between the countries and emphasized mutual support.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Saudi Arabia, where he plans to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
Zelenskyystated that negotiations regarding Ukraine cannot wait for the end of the war in Iran.
