Ukraine has repatriated 193 servicemen from captivity — Zelenskyy

Ukraine has carried out another prisoner exchange, resulting in the return of 193 Ukrainian servicemen.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Among those released are soldiers from the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, the National Police, and the State Special Transport Service. They participated in combat operations in various areas.

According to the president, among those returning are wounded soldiers, as well as military personnel against whom Russia has opened criminal cases.

Zelenskyy emphasized that prisoner exchanges are ongoing and thanked everyone working to organize them, as well as the units on the front lines that ensure the replenishment of the exchange pool.

He also expressed gratitude to international partners for their support and emphasized that efforts to return all Ukrainians from captivity continue every day.

All 11 Ukrainian prisoners of war whom Russia handed over to Hungary in 2023 subsequently left the country. Most of them returned to Ukraine, while the rest moved to other countries.

Ukraine and Russia conducted a new prisoner exchange on the eve of Easter, but they were unable to agree on a larger number of releases. Kyiv states that it proposed expanding the lists, but the Russian side refused. Despite this, Ukraine expects the exchanges to continue.
